The University of Tennessee Medical Center is the region's only academic medical center recognized for its excellence in Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopaedics, Pulmonology, Emergency Medicine, Trauma and more. This 609-bed facility is home to the University of Tennessee's Graduate School of Medicine and features an extensive medical library, a medical simulation lab and a broad range of clinical and laboratory research initiatives. In addition to providing a wide range of care and outstanding access to academic resources, The University of Tennessee Medical Center also boasts many awards in clinical excellence and patient safety. In 2018 alone, the Medical Center was named a Best Hospital by the U.S. News and World Report for the sixth consecutive year and received an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group.
