Riverton is a neat little town located southeast of the Teton Wilderness area just east of the continental divide. Located at an elevation of 4,956 feet and surrounded by the Owl Creek and Wind River mountain ranges, Riverton is a progressive city that offers ample clean air, majestic scenes and world class outdoor recreation. The annual 1838 Mountain Man Rendezvous features a weeklong re-creation of a trapper's and trader's encampment with games of skill, food, dancing and entertainment. The Riverton Rendezvous, a weeklong event held during the second and third weeks of July, celebrates the city's founding in 1906 with a hot-air balloon rally, Arts in the Park, street dances, the Rocky Mountain Car and Bike Show, and a WRA rodeo. The Wild West Winter Carnival, held each February, offers ice sculpting, casino nights, and tethered balloon rides.
